Back in the 1990s, I worked with a guy that got me hooked on brewing beer, and it went like wildfire! After I created several different types of beer, I gradually progressed into making fruit wines, grape wines and even dandelion wine.
After entering and winning numerous prize ribbons for my different wines at the WI State Fair Amateur Wine Making Competition and getting tremendous support from friends & family on the wines I had developed, my determination and passion for opening a winery and wine shop was firmly established.
I had long dreamed of opening a winery near our home by the Duck Creek area of Howard, WI, so the name “Duck Creek Vineyard & Winery” was chosen and registered with the State of Wisconsin.
Then the entire Door County Peninsula was designated as “The Wisconsin Ledge”, an American Viticulture Area (AVA) (i.e., an official wine growing region of the US ) by the US Department of Treasury, and our thoughts turned to moving to my wife’s home town of Denmark WI within The Wisconsin Ledge. We found a great location that was perfect for the winery and that also had an existing shop destined to become our Wine Shop, so we relocated there in In September of 2012, renovated the property with the help of family and friends, and opened Duck Creek Vineyard & Winery to the public in November of 2013.
While we only carried a handful of wines when we opened, today we have several international award-winning wines & meads that have also received international acclaim, and, as we like to say, “offers something for everyone … even those who say they don’t like wine!”
We also feature several different “seasonal” wines and meads throughout the year. In 2013 we offered our Original Kombucha Tea. Today, we have five different flavors of Kombucha Tea: Original Flavor, Goji Berry, Lemongrass Ginger, Peach Ginger and Raspberry Pomegranate.
And we’ve been researching and developing new products ever since, which lead to our latest venture, the opening of Denmark Distilling in 2018, which is housed in the same building as our winery and wine store.
Denmark Distilling now produces the following spirits:
The objective of our Winery is to provide hand-crafted International Award-Winning Wines, Meads, Kombucha Teas, distilled spirits and craft beers.
We hope you will enjoy visiting our web site and we personally invite you to visit us at our Vineyard, Winery, Wine Shop, Distillery & Wine Tasting Room where we hope you’ll enjoy sampling our wines, meads, teas and spirits as much as we enjoyed making and producing them for you.
We offer a unique experience for customers to come in and craft their very own batch of wine. We offer wine juice kits and wine making kits that have all the supplies needed to make your own wine. We will walk you through the process of making your wine from starting the wine to bottling. This is a great opportunity to learn about wine making.
If you have an anniversary, wedding or special occasion, we can help you craft wine that you can provide to your guests. We will help you make a special label to commemorate the occasion. Each wine kit makes approximately 28 bottles.
I have been hand crafting wine and beer since 1998. I take pride in knowing every wine and mead has been Internationally Awarded and recognized.
So come on up and visit Duck Creek Vineyard & Winery and Denmark Distilling about 12 miles southeast of Green Bay, WI, just off I-43. And if you have other questions or would like to arrange a Vineyard Tour, please contact us or call 920-863-2104.
